Research repeatedly shows that a well-funded and fully staffed school library with a state-certified school librarian is an integral component of a student’s education.

There is a large equity gap among our elementary school communities who are working to revitalize their libraries.

Our current fundraising campaign is aimed at filling the bookshelves at 3 of our elementary schools:

  • The Sarah Ella Wilson library at Belmont Street Community School

  • The Jane Petrella Media Center at Quinsigamond Elementary School

  • The library at Gates Lane Elementary School

Please consider making a donation through our Givebutter page or by mailing a check to the address below.

From School Libraries and MCAS Scores (Baughman, Simmons College, 2000) MCAS scores are higher when:

  • Schools have a library program

  • There is a higher per pupil book count

  • There are more open library hours available

  • There is a full-time school librarian
